Concrete tools are likely to be used by the participants of a newly-launched contest that could inspire professionals in the UK.
Part of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), the Decorative Concrete Council has announced its third award ceremony.
The event judges submissions on aesthetics, creativity, functionality and craftsmanship and invites entries in categories ranging from overlays, countertops and special finishes.
All of the prizes recognising exception work by specialists will be distributed at next year's World of Concrete, which is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January 2011.
One of the ASCC's topics of discussion in recent months was the tolerances needed for cast-in-place concrete structures. It published a guide for inspectors and contractors, aimed at providing them with a history of the subject and ways to avoid "tolerance traps that cause schedule delays, construction claims and associated costs", such as those for legal issues.
