Users of brick tools may be affected by a rise in demand for coastal houses noted by one expert.

Peter Halliday, managing director of Waterside Properties, said people are relocating to the seaside.

"There are some excellent options in the south," he stated, adding that most of his customers sell their homes to move to the shore.

Indeed, the latest Halifax Seaside Town Quality of Life Report revealed the best quality of life could be found in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex, while Dorset settlement Christchurch and Burnham-on-Crough also made the list.

Although it is harder to find a buyer for properties in the current climate than it was in 2007, people are still relocating "in reasonable numbers," Mr Halliday claimed.

This is despite the higher house prices that can typically be found in coastal regions due to the generally more attractive lifestyle, he continued.

According to the Halifax study, Sandbanks is currently the most expensive seaside town.
