The Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI), which exists to inform government policies in an effort to strengthen the fiscal health of the nation, has called for wind farms, carbon capture and storage, marine energy parks and onshore and offshore grids to be built over the next five years.
Alongside this, the body would like to see greater responsibility for tax and spending decisions given to the Scottish Parliament and the dedication of 0.5 per cent of the budget for the creation of jobs as well as to stimulate creativity in the country.
Dr Lesley Sawers, the organisation's chief executive, commented: "Enlarging and emboldening Scotland's business base will improve our export earning and build more sustainable businesses, improve our reputation, support a skilled workforce and make Scotland a desirable location for global talent to create and innovate."
