With concrete frost blankets in place, cementitious surfaces can be protected against the elements while they are left to set.
This could help to bring peace of mind to individuals and companies whose operations in recent years have been disrupted by extremes of temperature.
Ernst & Young and the Construction Products Association (CPA) have published the latest Construction Activity Barometer, showing signs of optimism in the market but caution in the minds of heavy-side operators - those in the initial stages of the building process.
Dominic McAra, director in the construction products team at Ernst & Young, says: "The impact of the cold winters of the last two years is also likely to be front of mind as companies look to the final quarter."
This caution may prove to be wise, as the CPA called for a similar response to Office for National Statistics figures published recently which recorded a nine per cent rise in construction activity in the first quarter of 2010.
