Housebuilding has been described as a vital component for getting the British economy back on track.

In news that may be encouraging for brick tools users, the Home Builders Federation (HBF) said more effort is needed to promote new residences in order to boost employment and help the country's housing needs.

Executive chairman of the organisation Stewart Baseley commented that the industry currently supports "hundreds of thousands of jobs" across the UK.

"New homes are vital for first-time buyers and young families and are also greener and so cheaper to run," he added.

According to Mr Baseley, those currently considering buying a property should think about purchasing a freshly-constructed one in order to help the industry.

Head of communications at the HBF Steve Turner recently claimed there is already a shortfall of one million properties in Britain and this deficit could widen unless the government meets its targets of 200,000 houses per year.
