Plexiglass Plastic Bullfloat Air-entrained Concrete
In stock
Plexiglas concrete floats are available in 3ft or 4ft lengths as single blades or with a blade plus a knucklehead Gear-box.
These floats are made from a material that is suitable for floating air-entrained concrete and micro silica.
Air-entrained concrete is ideal for projects which require freeze-thaw-resistant solutions especially if the temperature of your environment moves between above and below freezing. This kind of concrete is also popular due to its high resistance to scaling and can be highly effective when it comes to preventing structural cracks.
The Plexiglass Bullfloat is used where the concrete that is being laid has a very high adhesive factor. Floating concrete which is very sticky has always been a problem so if you need a concrete float for micro silica or a concrete float for sticky concrete like air-entrained concrete then this is the float for you. It will give a smooth matt finish similar to the mahogany wooden bullfloat.
What is Air-entrained Concrete
The primary benefit of entrained air in hardened concrete however is the resistance it offers to freeze-thaw damage and scaling caused by de-icing salts or chemicals. Most concrete contains some moisture which expands during freezing temperatures. Without room for this expansion, large forces develop that can rupture the surface causing what is commonly called surface scaling. The small, entrained air bubbles serve as reservoirs or expansion chambers to relieve these pressures.
